Style

Laurie is a documentary photographer meaning that he always captures images which best convey the stories, emotions and characters from every unique wedding day.
Reportage photography is more than just taking images when people are not looking, it is a style in which the photographer does not interfere with the day, stop the flow of events or ask people to pose. Instead the focus is on the couple and all that goes on during the day resulting in honest and genuine images captured with care and delicacy.
This kind of photography is timeless and will keep you coming back to the album year after year.

An Album is for Life – Bespoke Minimalist Wedding Album

The great thing about being totally devoted to what you do is that you produce the best possible product and result you can at that time and a great way to measure what youve been doing is by putting it all into one finished item. Today I received my latest album which covers only one wedding and tells the story from start to finish in only 20 pages.
The finish is stunning in its miminalistic style and the time and energy poured out in devotion to capturing the best images I can which document a wedding day was well spent.

I love my new album and cant wait to showcase it to clients.

Important People

I love to share how I think on my blog. So here we go…

When I’m getting to know a couple I will always listen everything they say, who is important to them and their day and am always finding ways of including the important people in the images. This way clients get the presence of their family member in context within a story or situation.

At a recent wedding it was an emotional time during the vows and I really wanted to include mum in the image so you can see I used the rings as a frame for the subject and her expression completes the image. Its actually funny how quickly these things happen and how you have to move quickly to frame the image without making any noise or taking away from the special moment during the exchanging of rings.

At a wedding a while ago the relationship between father and daughter was incredible and what a great time they were having. I knew the bride explicitly wanted an image of her and dad and so I just kept my eyes on them the whole day. It wasn’t too tricky though as they had barely made it to the ceremony and they were doing things like this! I love that I don’t have to pose to achieve these images. They are frozen in time forever.

Reading Wedding Photography – Documentary Wedding Sneak Peak

I’m always trying to capture characters as they really are! I mean when its your wedding you really want to look your best and you might have an idea in your mind about how your photographer will do things. When I document though I don’t ask anyone to do anything, I just help people be themselves and don’t interfere. This means that I need to be ready for the moment the characters surface and at the dances in this wedding at Reading there was just such a moment!

Why pose when you can get honestly funny moments?
